Walter Robinson 1859

rob-fran-child

Walter Harry Lewis Robinson. 1859-1887 . Born 4/10/1859, Chipping Ongar, parents Francis Robinson & Elizabeth Rousell, father a Butler. He was the first of 10 children . Have b.c. BRO2 ..No baptism record found in Shelley or in Chipping Ongar ..Lewis maybe originates from the married name of Susannah Rousell, his mother's sister, who was a witness at his parents 1858 wedding . Odd?, not really!, that Francis married in Shelley Church, yet first child was born Chipping Ongar.

1861 Census.  Aged 18 months, at Three Hants Way, Beer House, Shelley, his father given as a lodger with a Ridgewell, shoemaker.Does this suggest that the family had only just moved to this address in Shelley, as he was not 'head' of his family?.. Robinson mistranscribed as Roberson..

1861C-robinson

1871C. Missing , aged 12, from the family home in Stanford Rivers. His mother is down in Barham with her mother on this Census day: I would surmise that his father just forgot to mention him!! Father seems quite prosperous at this time.

1881C. Aged 23, unmarried, is a Cabman in Fulham , boarder at 14 May Street.

1881-1887 Marries, but to who?? probably Louisa Hart in 1881 - not on London Marriages

1887. Dies, aged 27, 4/08/1887[this in family Bible]. Death Certificate, DR0 states that Walter William Henry Robinson, aged 25, Cab Driver, late of 17 Wilson's Road, died on 6/8/ 1887 at West London Hospital of Enteric[ = Typhoid] Fever 30 days Asthenid/a?, informant, on 8/8/1887, being L.Robinson, widow of deceased, present at the death, 17 Wilson's Road Hammersmith. When did he marry and were there any children? Maybe married, as Walter William Robinson, in Jun 1881 1c 1158 Poplar to a Louisa Hart: this is not on London marriages Ancestry , so cannot prove that it is he. But, if it were, very likely there were children between 1881 & 1887. Have perused Ancestry London Baptism records 1881-7, nothing obvious. Was she in 1891C?- cannot find a suitable widow or a remarriage !. Also searched for a suitable Louisa Hart in 1881C, just before the possible marriage: maybe an 18yr old dressmaker in Hammersmith.. Unless someone researches him, or I get access to the 1881 Poplar marriage, do not think I can get further with this: feb 2011. There is a death for a Louisa Robinson aged 1 in Poplar Mar 1887, a possible daughter. Also a possible Frank William Robinson born Poplar Dec 1883, he baptised 27/4/1884, Hammersmith & Fulham to Walter William & Charlotte Eliza Robinson, he a builder of 12 Stonedale Road.: this a misleading coincidence as same couple have a baptised child in 1880!! Also ~20 Robinson births /year in Poplar! Walter's death was just 2 months before his sister's, Ellen Annie's, marriage to Walter Mead, and 3 months before his father's death.
