On 29/12/1871 he married Martha Ladbury in St. Andrews Church, Lambeth.[she died 2 Oct. 1920: both she and Frederick are buried in Nunhead Cemetery] from the Medway Kent . Earlier that year Martha had been a housemaid in the household of a doctor in Lewisham.
Frederick & Martha had 2 children, Emily Eliza Andrews Jun 1874 Lambeth 1d 395 & Joseph Frederick Andrews 1875.

1901C. Aged 54, house carpenter, Martha 55 & Joseph, 26, book publisher's clerk., at 28 Denmark Hill.
1911C. Frederick Thomas Andrews, 64 and wife Martha, 65 were living in Lambeth [23 Denmark Road, Camberwell in 4 rooms]. He an unemployed carpenter, married 40 years, 2 children, both still alive. He died at this address, aged 65, 26/12/1911, probate to widow Martha & Emily Elizabeth Smart [ his daughter , wife of Henry Smart], effects £446 - a considerable sum for the time .
Lesley Balfe is descended from him, through his son, Joseph Frederick Andrews,1875-1959, married in 1901, his daughter Elsie Daisy, Dec1907, her daughter, Barbara Baldwin, then Lesley.

He was buried in a private grave 30538, square 109, depth 10ft at Nunhead on 2/1/1912. His body came from 23 Denmark Road. His wife Martha died, aged 75, 2/10/1920, and was buried on 7/10/1920 in the same grave, at a depth of 9ft. Cemetery records say her body came from 55 Denmark Road - the 1911C address for her daughter Emily Smart. . Barbara Balfe was taken in the 1940s to see this grave by her aunt , presumably Winifred Andrews 1902. Barbara is a Friend of Nunhead and claims they have been unable to locate the grave
Jl and I visited Nunhead in 2012. The private grave of Frederick & Martha was completely inaccessible, but the staff have promised to open up the access to it.

Living in Lambeth 1901C, he 37, she 28, a son Frederick. 1911C, he 48, clerk, paper maker, she 38, 2 children 1 died, Frederick Henry 10, living 55 Denmark Road, Camberwell, in 5 rooms. She could have died Bromley 1941 or Newport Gwent 1959.
. . . ..Joseph Frederick Andrews, 1875-1959 lived as a baby at 263 Camberwell Road[opposite Emmanuel St.]: and at 14 Denmark Road in 1881[ was called Frederick in this census]. He attended St. Mathews Church, Denmark Hill. He was still in Denmark Road 3/08/1901, when he married Elizabeth Louisa Wilmott in Camberwell. . He was already a Bookseller by this time.
1911C Joseph Frederick Andrews,35, booksellers assistant, wife Elizabeth 35,Winifred 8 & Elsie 4 were living in 4 rooms, 9 Carew Street, Camberwell, Lambeth. He was a bookseller, still living at 9 Carew Street in 1912 [ when son Arthur was born] and had a Newsagent & Tobacconist shop at 129 Kings Cross Road from 1938-1948 [Kellys Post Office London Directories].This he sold, much to his son's Arthur's dismay, as he was expecting to take over .when he came back from the army- N.Africa WW2. He also remarried in 1941, Camberwell, Edith Cottrell, after Elizabeth died, 1939, from complications from a hernia operation.
. . . .. Joseph Frederick, known as Joe, had 3 children: Winifred May 1902?, Elsie Elizabeth1907, & Arthur 1912. Elsie lived with him at 12 Grove Park after her marriage to Eric Baldwin in 1930 and her 2 children, Peter & Barbara were born there. When he remarried in 1941, there was a family rift and his daughters lost touch with him, although his grandddaughter, Barbara, visited him regularly between 1950 & 1957. He died at 12 Grove Park in 1959, aged 83. His second wife Edith died 5 months later.. Unfortunately, his second wife left everything, including family photos, to a friend and Barbara was not able to retrieve them.
. . . . For almost 100 years the Andrews men were carpenters, but Joseph[Joe] became a bookseller. Before the 1926 strike he worked in Fleet Street for a book dealer, but lost this job when he joined the strikers.
